Heat Wave!

Its extremely difficult to find the motivation to accessorize in 95 plus degree weather. The second you leave the safe cool blowing air conditioner of your work or apartment you are hit with a wall of thick sweaty muggy humidity. Resist the urge to just throw your hair up and walk out of the house. Here are some solutions that we've come across, using the notorious barely-wear-anything sex appeal of Bridgette Bardot as a jumping off point.

The sad fact is, not all of us can get away with sex bomb hair and a few chinese fans. Bridgette Bardot, makes us look back to some really great summertime 70's influenced styles, patterns and color schemes. (This chick totally looks like Ms. Bardot!) Below you'll see some great street style, accompanied by pictures of current Puss In Boots stock to match each style. (Stop in to try these shoes on in person!)

1. The light cotton shirt dress is always a great staple for a heat wave. Its got great flow to get enough air circulation through your body, and if paired simple with a cinch belt and a pair of ankle booties, you can really pull together a polished look without much effort.

2. Floral patterns are populating the streets. This look does have the elements of that great 70's style, but to us (who were teenagers in the 90s), we totally see a strong 90's influence to this, as well. Some people shy away from mid calf boots in hot weather. We don't! Nothing quite balances out the sweetness of a sundress like a pair of mid-calf harness boots.

-The Buckle Down Boots (available at Puss in Boots Boutique)

3. Ah the baby doll is back! Sexy and cutesy at the same time. Again, paired here with flat lace-ups to counteract the sweetness. We believe you have to be extremely careful with cutesy. Handle baby dolls with caution!

-The Beatlebums (available at Puss in Boots Boutique)

4. High-waisted linen skirts are a perfect combatant against heat and humidty. Tuck in a short-sleeved, loose-fitting, button-up,compliment it with a cinch belt and a pair of lace-up oxford flats and voila! You got yourself a summer-time collegiate look, which is no small feat!

-Trail Mix Flats (available at Puss in Boots Boutique)

5. Get your urban safari on! Tuck a stark white cotton wife-beater into a khaki knee-length (or longer). Punch it up, with some sass, by slipping on a pair of lipstick red pumps. You'd be surprised how traditionally paired outfits can be modernized with unexpected accessory choices. And who doesn't love a pair of red hot pumps?

-The Red Hots (available at Puss in Boots Boutique)

6. Make your hair as big as your poof-y skirt (its gonna frizz out anyway in this humidity). Take those floral patterns and mis-match them. Instead of tucking in your skirt, tie it off. Enjoy the magic of the summertime cowgirl look. And you can't really be a good cowgirl with out a nice pair of cowgirl boots. Opt for ankle height boots and you'll be all set.

-The Low Riders (available at Puss in Boots Boutique).
